The feast of St. Lucia is on this day. She was an Italian saint. For some weird reason she has been honoured in Sweden for many years, on December the 13th, and Norwegians don't ever want to let the Swedes get the better of us, so now we are also celebrating St. Lucia. We bake sweet rolls with saffron and raisins, and children dress up in white and carry light wreaths in their hair while singing.
Thank you Sweden, for letting us adopt this lovely tradition.
