Ready for another Norwegian Christmas song? Here's a song that always sends chills of delight up and down my spine:

"Det lyser i stille grender" based on a poem by Jakob Sande. Loosely translated the first verse goes like this:

"Silent villages light up / with twinkling candles tonight / as thousands of children's hands / lift their candles towards the sky" 

And although there are a multitude of very polished versions of the song out there, for me it is best sung by a children's choir.
